When Everything Old Is Made New Again

It is that time of year again
When some things end, and others begin,
When we remember what went before,
And wonder what may yet lie in store.
We take some time to learn from the past,
In hopes of improving our lot at last.
We stop to grieve over what we lost,
Sometimes staggering at the cost.
Yet, for our gains we pause to rejoice,
Thankful for days we made the right choice.
We know it is time to move ahead,
Whether we do so with joy or dread.
For, though we are into winter’s blue,
The calendar starts the year anew.
And, so, we press on this path we trod,
Hopefully living our life for God.
For, it is Christ’s blood so willingly giv’n
That makes this life worth the livin’.
When we accept His gift of salvation,
He makes us truly a new creation.
He takes the old, full of sin and strife,
And breathes into it eternal life.
God gives us joy along with sorrows.
He sends us hope for all our tomorrows.
So, as we start this brand-new year,
Let’s set aside all doubt and fear,
And turn to our Lord, the one true way,
To guide us each and every day,
To help us put off the corrupt old man
And to live as those He’s made new again.
