Jesus and His Apostles

When Jesus started His ministry
He called men his apostles to be.
Out of the throngs, He called just a few
To travel beside in all He would do.

Twelve men there were from different walks,
To whom Christ gave many private talks.
Jesus prepared them others to serve,
And told them from His path never to swerve.

Jesus taught of God and His kingdom,
Daily imparting of His wisdom.
Though Jesus knew one would Him betray,
He brought him also, each step of the way.

Christ foretold of His crucifixion
And His subsequent resurrection,
Jesus told them what would come to be
So after, they would the truth come to see.

He then charged them to take the Gospel
Into the world all others to tell,
Himself, the Truth, Life, and Way to show,
So that they too might His salvation know.
