As our country has its birthday,
There is much we should review;
For in searching out its hist’ry,
We’ll find standards to renew.
And in our founding fathers’ words,
Their devotion, plans, and deeds,
As reflected in the records,
Are blueprints our country needs.
To establish law and order,
Humbly did our founders turn,
To God, Almighty, Creator,
And for His direction yearn.
Not for glory, nor for power
Did they seek to build this land,
Many sought to bring God honor,
And for freedom took a stand.
They did not choose their way lightly,
For they strove to heed God’s call,
To support what was done rightly,
And, thus, pledged to give their all.
