Follow Through

Are you like me? Do you have a tendency to make plans or start projects and then lack what it takes to follow it through to the end? Sometimes, I run out of time or funds and am not able to return to finish, but at other times I just forget or lose interest along the way. Short term projects or activities are not usually my problem. Although, I am an easily distracted person. Almost anything can turn my attention from what I am doing to something else. My daughter has often said she thinks I have ADD. It could be. To keep myself on track, I maintain a calendar of events and write lists, both daily and long term. I mark the most significant items with one or more stars as a reminder to put more emphasis on completing those items. When my children lived at home, I often made charts for them to encourage them to keep track of what they did and to finish necessary tasks. I tried to reward good effort.

Today, I spent so much time trying to figure out how to make changes to this site and how to make things look the same after they are uploaded as they do on the editing page (I did not figure it all out), that I almost did not come back to posting. Often, I think about writing and posting a new blog, but then I grow concerned about what someone might think, get frustrated with the way the program works, or am called away to handle another task. In fact, this is a post I started several weeks back. Ah, well! For those of you who have been watching for news posts, I will try to do better. If you have time to add a comment, I would love to hear what you have to say (as long as it is polite).

Whether or not I finish all my knitting projects, sorting my piles of papers, or weeding my garden, my desire is to develop the follow through necessary to be able to repeat the apostle Paul’s words for my life, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” II Timothy 4:7 (KJV). Thankfully, the Lord often helps me to follow through, when I ask for His aid. Sometimes, it is through the assistance of others. May you be blessed in your endeavors!
